Title: Danger
Author:
miss_m_cricket
Fandom: Star Trek Reboot!
Pairing: Jim Kirk/Bones McCoy
Rating: Pg-13
Disclaimer: You think I own any of this? Nuts, you are.
A/N: I have bunnies in my head, bunnies which want to be free, but the words aren't coming out. This is a small offering to try and get my silly head back into the right gear.
Summary: “Jim!” he faintly hears a voice screaming, and although it is familiar to him he does not look to see who it is...
Danger
The thunder rolls across the night sky, crashing like waves upon unyielding rocks. Flashing with lightning, lighting up the stormy clouds.
The troubled air rages around the sound and the wind howls across the alien world, expecting no resistance and screaming its protest when it finds two figures standing against it.
A solitary shape runs across the exposed dirt of the plain, low to the ground, eyes focused ahead. His dark hair is blown off his forehead by the fury of the wind, but still he doggedly presses on.
A lone figure stands in the centre of the plains, arms outstretched, feeling the wind rush and flow around him. His light-kissed head is thrown back and his face upraised, eyes closed.
Here he feels free, doesn’t care about the danger.
“Jim!” he faintly hears a voice screaming, and although it is familiar to him he does not look to see who it is.
He sees the flash of light lance through his eyelids as the lightning strikes nearby, hears a moan of terror and then the thunder crashes in his eardrums.
Suddenly water pours over him and he knows that the sky has opened and the rain is pouring forth.
He opens his mouth, capturing the sweet danger-laced drops and nothing has ever tasted so refreshing and yet so addictive.
A hand grabs his arm and he opens his eyes.
It’s Bones, his face pale with fear, those precious drops running through his dark hair.
“Dammit Jim, please…it’s not safe!”
But Jim knows life isn’t safe. He takes a risk every time he steps out onto the soil of an alien world, every step he takes on the Enterprise.
So he doesn’t listen to Bones, he stays out in the thunder and the rain.
And Bones, though he’s afraid, stays with him.
Because that is what love is.
